“And they sang a new song, saying: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for ye were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood, Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God, And we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10)
The road to discovery leads one down many paths. God has already pre-determined the paths that we will travel. He knows every detour, valley, and mountain we will venture upon. Psalms 37: 23-24 reads,” The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fail, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.) The path may be a little rugged and unstable, but God is on our side and has our backs.
The promises of God are yes and Amen. He is faithful to His Word. As we embark upon this journey of discovery, there will be times when we will get stuck between a rock and a hard place. However, these pit stops are designed to help us find our true identities and learn to trust the Lord fully. If He brings us to a place, we must understand and believe He will make a way for us to come out of the place. Job wrote, “But He knows the way that I take: When He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold ( Job 23:10).”This journey is a trying of our faith. God wants to know if we can withstand adversity, hurt, or disappointments. Will we still be able to say, “Yes, Lord!” The in-between places promote growth, perseverance, experience, and wisdom.
In his journey to becoming king, David faced many battles and situations that caused him to be a great warrior and, at times, fear for his life. He was a man after the heart of God. David knew how to go to the Lord and confess his wrongs. He knew how to seek direction from the Lord when he was caught in the in-between places. David was anointed king at a young age but only sat in that seat once it was time. We, too, can sit in our rightful seats when it is time.
The places that we find ourselves was designed for us to put off the old man so that we can become new creatures. We will not be able to obtain our inheritance when we have not been prepared. Our preparation begins when we are born again. Sin left us so messed up inside that God had to send His Word to wash away the residue and peel off those layers in order for us to become whole. Our lives have to be pleasing to God. We have to be holy just like Him. The Scriptures specifically lets us know that God requires for us to be holy and purified. Leviticus 20:7 reads, ” Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.” The New Testament Scripture found in I Peter 1:15, gives the same message. It reads, ” Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. His blood redeemed us. We are now joint heirs and have been adopted into the royal family. This can be challenging because once you have decided to follow and live for Jesus, tests and trials will come, but not for your destruction. Those who choose to live a godly life will suffer persecution. Jesus’s blood has marked us, and the devil, our adversary, is doing everything that he can to make us miss the mark and not take our rightful place in the Kingdom of God. Stay on the path of righteousness and holiness, and you will be victorious even in the in-between places!
